Producer of Randi Oline's New Single Demo

I am honored to have produced Randi Oline's latest single, Demo, a powerful and heartfelt song written in response to a year of atrocities in Gaza. The track is a call to action, urging solidarity and the pursuit of justice, while also offering a sense of comfort to those standing up for a free Palestine.

Demo was co-written by Randi Oline, Beharie (@beharie), and myself, and it was a privilege to help bring this meaningful piece to life. The song was released on November 29th, aligning with the UN’s International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, and serves as both an anthem of support and a gentle alarm to awaken those who remain indifferent.

The single has received widespread acclaim, earning second place on New Music Norway and a 5/6 review in VG. The track was mixed and mastered by Henrik N. Mikaelsson (@henkkaniemisto), with stunning artwork created by Frida Marie (@fridamarie13).

I’m incredibly proud to have been a part of this important project.

SEPT-OCT 2023

"LOUD! Songs," a collaboration between AKKS and JM Norway. In the autumn of 2023, we're organizing four rounds of songwriter camps exclusively for women, transgender, and non-binary individuals. This exciting new initiative aims to create safer spaces within music production and songwriting for underrepresented genders.

Our project, "LOUD! Songs," is designed to offer a non-commercial platform where both experienced producers and songwriters and those who have never ventured into such arenas can engage in songwriting sessions at a professional level. Our mission is to foster a supportive and secure environment through our unique LOUD! pedagogy, emphasizing exploration, mastery, and camaraderie, which we believe will lead to exciting new experiences in the field.

In 2022, TONO, Norway's music copyright organization, launched the "Let More Voices Be Heard" campaign, revealing a stark statistic: only 2 out of 10 registered songwriters with them are women. Female producers and songwriters spoke out about feeling stigmatized and not being taken seriously in songwriting sessions. We've heard echoes of these concerns from young musicians in our projects and local communities, expressing difficulty in feeling safe and taking their place in such songwriting sessions. While gender disparities in Norwegian music are slowly diminishing, the songwriting field appears to lag behind. We want to address this issue and are launching the pilot project LOUD! Songs in multiple Norwegian cities in 2023.

The camps are open to women, transgender, and non-binary individuals with experience or ambitions in production, songwriting, or instrumental performance within the realm of popular music. Each camp can accommodate 4 producers, 4 songwriters, and 4 instrumentalists in total. While our priority age group is 14-25, we encourage those outside this range to apply as well.

Sámi Grand Prix 2023

I had the privilege to collaborate with two artists, contributing to the production and mixing of their tracks. Máret Áile Gaup with her song “Ráhkis hoavda”. This composition encapsulated Sámi values, emphasizing the significance of self-care, and aimed to inspire and uplift the audience. Linus Johansen presented his song “Cevzoset Hilat”, symbolizing resilience and hope in life's trials.

The Sámi Grand Prix 2023 was a significant event in the Sámi music scene, produced for NRK, Norway’s national broadcasting corporation. The event took place on Easter Eve, April 8, 2023, in Báktehárji. It was broadcast live on NRK 1, NRK TV, and radio, allowing viewers to watch the show and vote for their favorite performances from anywhere.

The Sámi Grand Prix is considered Sápmi’s biggest music event, presenting brand new songs and yoiks every year. The 2023 event was no exception, featuring a diverse range of artists and musical styles.

The event was also accessible to international audiences, including all the Sámi countries. This wide broadcast range ensured that the vibrant showcase of Sámi music and culture reached a broad audience, further highlighting the dynamic nature of the Sámi music scene.
